COURSE DELIVERY METHODOLOGY
Where training is requested, TIPP FOCUS Training follows an integrated life-cycle approach to impart knowledge to all learners who enroll for our courses or skills programmes, as depicted in the diagram below:

1.1.1 Training delivery methodology
Our Facilitators are dynamic and very knowledgeable in the subjects the facilitate. They ensure that training does not take place using the traditional one way information dissemination, but rather a more interactive format with the learners. TIPP FOCUS TRAINING has developed training materials and presentation slides that are aligned to Unit Standards to ensure consistency in delivery of training, and the building of Portfolios of Evidence (POEs).
Our delivery approach combines various methodologies and learning formats such as videos on topics such as Leadership, overhead presentations, group discussion/team exercises, games, case studies and role plays. Our Facilitators also provide optional additional learning materials and internet links for further reading.
1.1.2 Face–to-face training
This includes activities to ensure the transfer of skills and knowledge according to the gaps identified through the Skills evaluation™ process.
- All our training is modularised so that it can be delivered as customised (gap-specific) modules.
- Case studies and videos demonstrating real-life best practice and value achievements by other organisations that have undergone similar development programmes are shared with the learners.
- Practical discussions are facilitated showing learners how the theoretical knowledge learned during the facilitation process can be practically applied in the workplace. Learners are required to identify how the specific theoretical knowledge can be applied by analyzing their organisation’s policies, procedures and projects to identify gaps or potential weaknesses which can be improved through the application of their new theoretical knowledge.
- It is recommended that all training is conducted off site to minimise interruptions from the workplace. However, exceptions can be accommodated depending on the circumstances if the client prefers to use their own facilities in the workplace.
- TIPP FOCUS TRAINING can offer ongoing mentoring and coaching of participants to ensure that the theory learned is implemented on the ground through practical usage within their work environment.
- We have the capacity to administer learnerships which further integrate the facilitation process with experiential learning over a period of one to three years.
1.1.3 Conducting the Assessment Process
Assessment is conducted throughout the process culminating in the summative assessment.
- TIPP FOCUS TRAINING utilises pre-facilitation research or assignments to ensure learners have prepared for the facilitation process.
- Formative assessment is conducted throughout the facilitation process through group work, discussions, self-assessments etc. This process is critical in assessing some of the Critical Cross Field Outcomes such as group work etc.
- Learners are required to complete a post-facilitation summative assessment which includes the completion of a work-place project or case study. The “body of evidence” or POE is assessed against the SAQA standards to provide a certificate of competence where competence has been proved.
- Where the client so requires, TIPP FOCUS TRAINING can conduct post-course workplace assessments to assess the impact of the learning within the workplace. This consists of evaluating the delegates in terms of their application of skills within the workplace. A mentor/coach is available throughout this process to provide any necessary mentoring to the delegates.
1.1.4 Post-Facilitation Learner Support and Administration
- TIPP FOCUS TRAINING provides post-facilitation coaching and mentoring to ensure correct application of skills learnt through our blog, newsletters, email, fax and telephone.
- TIPP FOCUS TRAINING has a comprehensive database system to effectively liaise with VULINDLELA’s administrative logistics. This allows for easy access to information relating to our programmes and their implementation as well as efficient reporting which will be matched to DBSA VA’s requirements.
